Seafood Eco-Friendly Certifications

Many seafood suppliers such as Walmart now advertise certified sustainable fish. But what does this mean and how can we be sure the fisheries they purchase seafood from actually practice sustainable fishing practices, processing, etc? According to this news article some certifications don't mean the seafood is actually sustainable.
